In 2010, in Alytus, there were finished 8 heat insulated bitumen storage tanks, intended for storage of different type of bitumen up to 180° C. Total capacity of them totals 11,000 tones.
In 2011, bitumen economy gasification works have been completed. From now on all bitumen storage tanks are heated by thermal oil, circulating from modern BENNINGHOVEN gas heaters, or by electricity, alternatively.
Railway line branches, where bitumen railway cisterns are heated by electricity and unloaded at the same time, any time of the year, are installed in the bitumen economy. Bitumen can also be delivered by auto transport.
There are three stations for loading of the prepared bitumen into tanker trucks and vehicle electronic cells in the base of the company.
In this case, bitumen is provided for company's asphalt concrete bases in Alytus and Marijampolė. Alkesta UAB also supplies bitumen to other road building companies in Lithuania.
Bitumen emulsion storage tanks
Three different types of bitumen emulsion are unloaded from tanker trucks in company’s central base and stored into three specially heated storage tanks. Their capacity totals 120 tones. The emulsion is delivered to objects by autohydronators.
